protect mesh and copy weigths

PostPosted by fairy » Mon May 30, 2016 7:09 am

I would like have, a function that protect meshes, and copy weigths from one Mesh to another
The Goal ist to make conforming Cloth.
That means, I want add Dress Meshes to a Character and transfer the the Weights from Character to the Dress Mesh.
Similar like Maya copy weights or DAZ Transfer Utility Tool
So that the Dress Mesh move conform with the Character Mesh .
Also I would like to have a protected Mesh function, so that I can only adjust the weight on the Dress Mesh.

Hi dear Vidi!

Yep, yep, as you know Save/Apply Skin features are planned since long time (button are already in the UI).
And concerning Multi-Skinned mesh, we plan to add some lock option to lock weights on specific skinned meshes.
So, it's in the list ;-)

Cheers,
Aurelien
(ps: it is possible that Save/apply skin features could be the future choosen devs)

Thank you Aurelien ! :)
The Weight Painter is absolutely great to work with, and my Feature request would do my workflow perfect.

Nice to read , Save/apply skin is maybe the next implementation. :D

Cheers,
vidi

I know your guys are working hard to improve Akeytsu, but any news of copywheights in the near future? I love Akeytsu weight painting tools but I need a copy weight function for my conforming Reallusion CC clothing pipeline so I can finally my Maya Subscription cancel.

cheers ´vidi :)

Hello Vidi ,

Happy new Year ! ( we are still in January, so it's still time to express our best wishes :-)
So, yes, we realize this one has taken more time than expected not because of the feature by itself, but because we had to realign certain priorities. It happens.
Therefore, please just be a little more patient, the feature is in WIP , so it should not be too long and we will keep you posted.
Cheers,
Julie

Hi Kin,

Yes, we’ve screwed up with this feature and more specifically with its announcement. Our enthusiasm was so high when we’ve started the design & development months ago, that we thought we could finalize it in a glance, so we wrongly spread out this great news…. Bad idea, as the reality of our software architecture brought other development priorities to be done and these were not necessarily visible to you, but absolutely required for many reasons such as stability and efficiency… We’ve messed up, sorry, it does happen but it’s behind us now and Akeytsu has become a stronger friend.
So, the very good news is finally for real and for sure !! you’ll get the copy weights skin feature in the next update, with an ETA of a few weeks, mid summer (skinned mesh locks will arrive for V1 this fall).
In a few weeks time, growling for your copyweight will be over and in the meantime, our team has become smarter and wiser, so almost all good ;)

Thanks everyone for your patience, trust and understanding.

Cheers,
Aurelien
