[SOLVED] Broken animations in Unreal - orientation issue

PostPosted by navy » Sun Aug 07, 2016 5:55 pm

Hi! :)
I have a strange issue. After exporting my animations to UE4, all of them are broken. They are changing their orientations like crazy.
If I import this to maya, I got 2 errors:
"Warning: Local Transform Changed (1)
The FBX plug-in has detected Non-uniform scaling values. The following nodes (or their parents,) have non-standard Maya scaling inheritance (RSrs). The plug-in will re-compute their local transforms to match their correct global transforms and re-plot the transform animation frame by frame. These nodes might have interactive behavior in Maya that differs from the source application.

Warning: Skin Definition (1)
The imported scene has no initial binding position (Bind Pose) for the skin. The plug-in will compute one automatically. However, running the 'Go To Bind Pose' command may create unexpected results.
"

And animations looks like this:

Are they all broken and do I have to create them again or is there something I can do?

Cheers!

Hi,
Looking at your video, it seems that, when recomputing the local transforms of your nodes, negative scales are inserted.
For now, I cannot know why.
Could you please send me your akt file at support@nukeygara.com ?
Have you used a specific scale mode in akeytsu, to animate your joints (Toon Scale, for instance) ?
Thank you,
Cedric

Hi!

Thanks for your quick reply, you guys have best support of all software I used :)

Here is link to the file: http://www.filedropper.com/owca010

I did not change a scale, neither for joints, nor whole mesh.

Thanks again:)

Hello navy,

We finally succeded in fixing your problem. Follow these instructions, and your sheep file should be repaired:
- Open owca_010.akt
- Switch to Rigging mode
- Select joint "Default character/SHEEP_02/SHEEP_"
- In Transform window, replace -90 value by 0
- Then, in Character bank, right click on SHEEP2/Bind Pose. Click on "Set as ref pose"
- Save your file, it should be repaired => You shoud be now able to export it in UE4 without your previous problems (inversion of the sheep in several keys)

Details about what we have done here:
- The skeleton you used had a 90° rotation around local Z axis, we erased it
- A ref pose was associated to your skinned mesh, we deleted it

A few advices to use akeytsu in a better way (for now):
- Try to import meshes that have been previously reset-X-formed
- Do not parent a character under another character
- For the moment, any modification made to a separate Ref Pose impacts all animation keys you already created. There are plans to introduce automatic corrections in order to limit this issue in future akeytsu versions but until that please use the separate Ref Pose very carefully. We recommend to use the standard Bind Pose as it is, today, the safest option.
