Butterfly animation

PostPosted by davide445 » Sun Sep 25, 2016 6:11 pm

Got a butterfly coming from 3d scan and edited with 3d-Coat.
Want to animate it, to create a small clip in Unity3d, will be possible to do it in Akeytsu?
Looking at tutorials appear to be only for human characters for rigging, skinning and animation.

Hi David (and welcome here),

Sure you can do it in akeytsu!
Our software is not only for bipeds. You can work any kind of character: monsters, animals, props, etc. All you want!
Enjoy akeytsu ;-)

Cheers,

Ok finally I got my butterfly model refined and painted with the original butterfly texture so to appear more real.

Image

Pboblem is I never ever create any animation, so not sure what I need to do to export the model.

I tried to simply export the fbx but no texture is shown in Akeytsu.

So want to have suggestion about this final step: need I to bake the textures? To do so need I to create UV? To create UV need I to retopology?

To bake textures in 3DC there are many options, i.e. Per-pixel, PTEX, Microvertex. Some of them didn't require UV map (i.e. PTEX), might I use it in Akeytsu?

The model it's high poly (about 1 Mil triangles), to cut some steps I can leave it so or it's absolutelly necessary to retopo to low poly (i.e. 10.000) quadrangular mesh?

Hi davide445 Here is the way to go :)
Step 1 your Modell need a retopo (Retoporoom in 3D coat)
Step 2 UV Mapping (can be done in Retopo Room too )
Step 3 Paint the texture (per pixel) (PaintRoom in 3D coat )
Step 4 export (Object and Textures Option ) as FBX (checkmarks color ... maps)
Step 5 rigged it in Akeytsu
Step 6 animated it in Aketsy
Step 7 Finally.
export it, for to use your Butterfly in your 3DRender Movie Tool or Gameengine

Thanks @fairy for the clarification.
Looking at 3d-Coat tutorial and being my model non symmetrical and full of non parametric geometry I think this can be a long journey, just to export the whole thing in Akeytsu.
Since I need to produce something this week I'll go for the easy way producing an "keyframed" animation in 3DC .
Later will experiment the complete workflow to be prepared for the next project :-).
