[SOLVED] FBX Import into Carrara no longer works correctly.

PostPosted by pgre » Fri Mar 24, 2017 6:00 am

It seems that Post v3.4 FBX Exports brought into Carrara 8.5 have their right and left legs overlapping. This was not the case pre 3.4. Comparing file versions in Autodesk's FBX Converter shows 7400 for both files (I assume that means v7.4).

Hello,

Thanks for your feedback !

Can you confirm that your version of Akeytsu is 3.4 and not 3.5 ? You can see it in Help -> About... of the main menu.
Then, can you send us your FBX file at support@nukeygara.com ?

Your problem is legs' position and you think it came from Akeytsu's export ?

Cassandra

I have a steam license, so yes, I was just recently updated to 3.5. But the behavior started with 3.4. The file is generated from mixamo (fuse) and downloaded as FBX for Unity. will send file.

Hi Pete,

We found what happened to your file.

We have just sent you an email with your file fixed. We have added a root joint to your character because Carrara seems to apply a scale on it.
So if you use Fuse/mixamo FBX, here is the process :
- import your FBX on Akeytsu,
- create a new joint on position (0, 0, 0),
- drag and drop the other joints in this new one.

Moreover, we saw that, in your character, the skinning weight sum of each vertex was upper to 1. So, thanks to your problem, we now normalize vertices weights when importing on Fbx.
This fix will release in a future update.

Thank you for your useful feedback !

Regards,
