[SOLVED] Select Nvidia GPU instead of Intel integrated one

PostPosted by squall » Mon Apr 03, 2017 5:14 am

Hi,

I have configured in Nvidia Control Panel to preference Nvidia processor for akeytsu.exe, however whenever I run Aketsyu it will show "Akeytsu successfully launched on Intel HD Graphic 4000".
Is there any other settings I need to follow to make it use my NVidia processor?

Hi Squall,

How did you proceed with the NVIDIA control Panel ? Have you well applied the changes ?
Can you check that you have not several versions of akeytsu on your computer ?

Do not hesitate if it still does not work or if you have any question.

Hi Cassandra,

How did you proceed with the NVIDIA control Panel ? Have you well applied the changes ?

My Nvidia global settings is set to preference NVIDIA. For troubleshooting I specifically put a customized entry for aketsyu.exe as in the screenshot

Can you check that you have not several versions of akeytsu on your computer ?

I did not reinstall akeytsu and change my trial license to indie license via Help->License option. Should I download and resintall akeytsu ?

Thanks and Regards

Hi Squall,

Indeed, you can try to reinstall akeytsu following these steps(Warning : you will have to enter your license key once again) :
- delete akeytsu with window program manager(if you have more than 1 akeytsu, delete both of them)
- install akeytsu

If you see that akeytsu doesn't use your NVIDIA card retry what you have done with the NVIDIA control panel and apply the changes.

If it's always not working, tell us and we will find another way.

Hi Casandra,

I have reinstalled, it is still the same, you know what I think it might not be Akeytsu issue but Nvidia and Windows 10. If there are some options/steps already in place then I will try else just
leave it as is because the performance with Intel Integrated is not that bad and I can live with it.

Overall I am very happy with Akeytsu and rather your team spend more time into improving the core features and come out with more step by step examples and tutorials. Keep up the good works

Thanks and Regards

Hi Squall,

We may have another solution.
In the control panel NVIDIA can you put "High-performance NVIDIA processor" instead of ''Use global setting(High-performance NVIDIA processor)" in the "preferred graphics processor" as you can see in the picture ?
Image

Otherwise, maybe you could :
- Right-click on the launch icon for akeytsu
- Select "Run with Graphics Processor"
- Select "High Performance NVIDIA Processor" to run the program once with the video card selection or select "Change default graphics processor..." to make a permanent change.

Does one of those solutions help?

Hi Casandra,

Tried both and the result were the same - still the integrated one. Anyway, thanks for your input and as said it might be Nvidia driver and windows 10 issues.

Hi Casandra,

For the benefit of other users who may encounter the same issues, I have solved it by reinstalling both Intel Integrated Graphic driver and Nvidia driver. Nothing fancy and Akeytsu now runs with my Nvidia card.

Once again thanks and it is confirmed not Akeytsu issue :)

Thanks and Regards
