Belt Attachtment Question

PostPosted by ksalmon87 » Mon Apr 24, 2017 9:43 am

I have a belt on my character that I created in Daz Studio 4.9, however the belt runs along the thigh of the character so my question is should the be with the pelvis bone, or the thigh bone, in order to move properly.. see the picture i've linked..

Hi,

This belt seems to be strongly strapped to the thigh. It does not seem it can move (like an overlap). So IMHO the gun part (big part) should be skinned on the thigh.
Hope it helps ;-)

Cheers,

look at the is picture, within DAZ Studio, it is on the "Hip" bone, so im thinking id have to attach it to the "pelvis" joint in Akeytsu ???

EDIT: I tried rebinding the belt to the thigh bone, or pelvis, and the outcome is the same it doesnt move properly, so what I'm going to do is export of Akeytsu and attach it in 3DS Max and then put back into Akeytsu to finish rigging.. i think that will be better...

Sure, the belt vertices must be skinned to the hips (or pelvis, i don't know how is your hierarchy). I was talking about the large leather/gun part strapped to the thigh, which must be skinned to the thigh.
Inbetween vertices will be smooth skinned between hips and thigh.

Hi ksalmon87,

Aurelien told you how to skin correctly your belt, but the issue you're facing can come from the import of an "fbx coming from DAZ Studio", in Akeytsu.

To correctly bind your character, you have to select "Merge clothes in figure skeleton" when exporting from DAZ Studio.
It seems that you made it because you have only one skeleton.
Then, in Akeytsu, meshes are not correctly placed in the hierarchy tree (they are below the root joint):

They must be at the same level as your mesh "Jessy". After that, you may need to rebind them with the rest of your joints (without the root one) and choose which joint influenced it.

I hope this can help you!

Regards,
Cassandra
